Overall function of Men's Initiative Coordinator:
Involve men in the movement to end violence against women and girls,
and provide support to other areas of the Foundation through the
following activities:
Areas of responsibility:
Coordinate the men's initiative
Work extensively with the outreach team
Qualifications:
Experience: 1-2 years work experience in advocacy work and organizing
diverse groups.
Education: College graduate/student or equivalent relevant work
experience, preferably at a nonprofit organization.

opportunity - Freedom from violence: Includes domestic violence, sexual assault,
trafficking and prostitution - Health: Access to comprehensive services and information related to
mental, physical and reproductive health
Overall function of Men's Initiative Coordinator:
Involve men in the movement to end violence against women and girls,
and provide support to other areas of the Foundation through the
following activities:
Areas of responsibility:
Coordinate the men's initiative
- Research current trends and organizations and individuals working
to involve men in the movement to end violence - Coordinate events based on current events and trends in the field
and work with the Foundation to determine new ways of engaging
various audiences of men - Seek out opportunities for the Foundation to co-sponsor events
involving men and represent the Foundation at those events - Represent the men's initiative for print, radio, and television
interviews - Conduct outreach to groups of men not previously involved with
violence prevention - Hold meetings in Chicago to discuss effective strategies to further
men's involvement in the movement to end violence against women and
girls, and convene a variety of men's organizations to focus on
violence prevention - Manage the men's initiative list serve
- Collaborate with the Foundation's development team to fundraise for
the Father's Day promotion in the local newspapers, identifying and
pursuing prospective donors - Work with the communications department to develop reports for the
men's initiative
Work extensively with the outreach team
- Coordinate, conduct and report out on focus groups, community
meetings and town hall meetings - Work as a member of the Foundation's speakers bureau
- Attend conferences and staff Foundation booths to promote the "What
Will It Take?" initiative and Chicago Foundation for Women's anti-
violence activities
Qualifications:
Experience: 1-2 years work experience in advocacy work and organizing
diverse groups.
Education: College graduate/student or equivalent relevant work
experience, preferably at a nonprofit organization.
Skills:
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Excellent skills at writing and editing, including a command of
grammar, spelling, punctuation and style. - Ability to manage a number of projects at one time.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Suite including Access, Powerpoint,
Outlook, Excel, Word; Internet research.
Personal:
- Understands and can communicate the Foundation's unique mission.
- Efficient self-starter; takes initiative; perseveres.
- Able to accept supervision and direction as required.
- Works effectively with all levels of a diverse staff, as a team
player. - Professional demeanor.
- Has a personal commitment to the mission of the Foundation.
