Hey everyone, Just got in to the office after a much needed day of rest. I'm still processing everything that I learned and felt at the training (Teeomm will be proud), and I'm eager to continue to develop the ideas, conversations and connections that we began over the last few days. You'll hear from me soon via e-mail as well, but I wanted to encourage people to create an account here and at least say hello, so we can get some conversations rolling. Ah, how long it takes me to actually follow through on those things that do me the most good ... like connecting with others.
Greetings all - I don't know if it's possible to shave down what I got out of the training in a neat paragraph or two. What I can do, however, is share what is happening as a result and some of the visions that I have been having for men's networks in Springfield.
Recently, I have been building a vision of creating a large scale project called Spring Fields Community Gardens. The project would encompass at least a couple of acres and incorporate teaching projects on green energy and water reclamation (see Greenfield Energy Park), a public space for running / hosting trainings or events, a large area of community gardening which would be used as a green school for children and adults interested in micro-agriculture (see the NOFA Community Garden Initiative) and lastly - a largish series of structures to house a weekly large scale farmers market (see the Ithaca, NY Farmers Market), complete with a stage area to run live music.
I have begun having conversations with some local folks that I am connected to - and I will continue to reach out. If you know people that would buy into a vision like this - send them to me.
The ideal location for such a venture would be on one of the main artery roads on the outskirts of downtown. One space that I am already aware of is on State Street right next door to MassMutual - where they tore down a bowling alley several years ago - it's on a main bus route, in the middle of the college area and near the museums, the Tech School and Mercy Medical.
Next Vision in Progress - I got together with a small group of ManKind Project guys in Springfield last Monday and solidified my intention to start an open men's circle in Springfield. So far I have been offered space in 4 different locations to run such a thing. What I am looking for is MEN interested in participating. What I hold as an intention is that if men participate in the group and feel inspired by what they are getting out of it - that they commit to doing the New Warrior Training Adventure in the future - in order to have the same shared experience as other men in the group.
As an additional offer - If there are men interested NOW in stepping right up to the edge and taking a risk in their lives that could offer some HUGE rewards - I will come up with deposits for the training for FOUR men. I have offered 2 spaces to men from MRI, I will subsidize an additional 2 spaces. The deposit is $150. Call me if you would like to hear more about this. 413 303 ,,9193.
After experiencing sitting in the circle that we created at the MRI training - I know that there are many men among you who would see some huge returns on that investment of a weekend. It has been revolutionary in my life to be able to create spaces with men nearly every week where I can do really intimate work on myself and be supported and challenged by a group of committed men. Our next training is at the end of this month - July 27-29 in Petersham, MA.
LASTLY - I attended a "Coffee Hour" meeting with the President of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and a Representatiuve from the planning commission to hear about the upcoming revitalization projects that are planned for Springfield. I was very excited about some of the possibilities presented. Beyond that - I have an opinion. I think the city is going to be looking for dedicated groups of individuals to change the emotional culture of Springfield. We are those individuals. We are those networks.
In service, in joy. Boysen Hodgson

Hi to all - I recently returned from vacation and am happy to see this get started. I have many thoughts and ideas for the future, but for now will just reconnect. I look forward to moving on and moving forward after our very powerful experience together. Thinking of you all, Barbara

Hey folks , Thanks to those of you have signed on and started posting. You'll be the first to know that I've posted some pics from the training. Some are fantastic, some are grainy, and some were unusable. Not everyone is represented (including yours truly) but I think they give a good sense of some the great conversations and moments we had. The photo's are linked from our homepage, or you can jump directly to the page at: www.mensresourcesinternational.org/template.php?page=spfldtraining-Dan
